1951年在中国西北沙漠地带，解放军某骑兵连奉命对特务头子金冶中及起武装残余进行围剿。经过激烈战斗，敌人大部被歼，但是金冶中和两个敌兵却漏网逃逸。一班长钟永明虽然负伤，却坚持带着战士李玉根和小姜，继续追击穷寇。途中遇到大风，使敌人的遗迹消失，他们便兵分三路继续追寻。不久，小姜追上敌人，只身与敌人进行搏斗，金冶中的坐骑和一敌兵被击毙，但自己也不幸负伤。钟永明、李玉根闻声及时赶到并继续追击敌人。。本片以上世纪60年代，支援大三线建设为初始背景。 由于这次发展的需要，有很多人们为了国家建设都热情积极的离开自己土生土长的家乡。千家万户，各有各的故事。此片就是讲述了4个普通家庭的故事。。One day, thinking that it will make your wife and friends smile, you shave off the moustache that you have had for the last ten years.
