When the handover goes catastrophically wrong, Budge finds himself in a race against time to find his missing product and get a new buyer ...。故事发生在2005年全国高考前两个星期。影片主人公17岁的刘天明在住校复习时，他的父亲在工地抢险中受重伤抢救无效不幸去世。这突如其来的噩耗给贫困的农民家庭带来了沉重的打击。坚强的母亲为了完成丈夫的愿望，盼着儿子能考上大学，忍痛节哀。在村长和老乡们的帮助下，埋葬了丈夫，并请求学校老师和正在上高一的女儿天红，一起瞒过儿子。 天明、天红俩兄妹深爱着自己的父亲。为了他们上学父亲一年到头含辛茹苦外出打工。本来父亲答应高考前回家来看望儿子。本来天明、天红每周日要回家看望母亲。现在有变故了，瞒来瞒去还是露出了破绽，最后天明知晓了。在老红军和老师的关心、引导下，天明战胜了痛苦，经受了人生的考验。勇敢地迎接高考，实现了上大学的梦想。。
