故事发生在明朝末年，侯朝宗（冯喆 饰）是文人组织“复社”的领袖，该组织主要抨击的对象是奸臣阮大铖（韩涛 饰）。侯朝宗的刚正不阿和满腹文采吸引了青楼名妓李香君（王丹凤 饰）的注意，情投意合的两人很快就走到了一起，决定结为夫妻。 为了拉拢侯朝宗，阮大铖匿名赠送了李香君一笔巨额的嫁妆，结果被李香君识破，物归原主。崇祯皇帝死后，宏光继位，受阮大铖花言巧语的蒙蔽，将其重用视为左膀右臂。手握权势的阮大铖趁此机会陷害侯朝宗，并且打击复社组织，追捕激进人士。一晃眼八年过去，侯朝宗早已经不是当年意气风发的青年，看到爱人面目全非风骨不在，心碎的李香君选择了出家为尼。。王老爷的儿子四岁的时候被仇人偷走，二十年后儿子回来认亲，不是一个儿子，而是一群。每个儿子背后都有阴谋，只有揭开这些阴谋，才能找到真儿子。可即便找到，危险并不会远离，只会加剧。因为这事关一件传世珍宝。 王老爷是护宝人，为此他三十年未曾离开王家半步，因为高墙之外，夺宝之人也从未停止觊觎，更多敌人正源源不断从四面八方向此聚拢，更紧迫的是，日寇的战火已经燃起。 这是护宝与夺宝的故事。当弱小的盾面对强大的矛，会怎样？ 当温厚的盾面对卑劣的矛，当父亲是那个盾儿子是那个矛，会怎样？ 鬼子来了，英雄却老了，四面焦土，何以藏宝？ 因为守护的不单是珍宝，还有自己的信仰和良心，所以绝不能失守，哪怕只一次。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
