学警陈志超虽成绩名列前茅，但因得罪探长刘福而被调守梅窝，却因一次缉获当地黑社会头子而获派担任便衣，更与江湖大姐义结金兰。福无法摆平英军强奸村女一案，听侄儿刘和欲陷害志超，幸志超化险为夷，同时亦使刘福威名大增，此后官运亨通，引来同僚林光及雷洛妒忌。志超生性风流，除有妻何玉珠及妾白素芬外，更有女友姚卿，引起素芬不满，在自杀及偷汉后，终弄致分手。志超因懂得奉承刘福，遂成为刘福退休后的继任人，誓言除暴安良。时刘和把小歌女郭秋菊卖身给夏爵士，之后更逼死她，志超便抓来刘和替秋菊报仇，更不惜与刘和的老板雷洛再结梁子。最后刘福在临终前来求情，志超才饶刘和一命。志超在五十年代多次社会暴乱中均有突出的表现，故最后获升为新部门“三支旗”（香港、九龙、新界俗称三支旗）的总舵主，拥有无上警力，成为警界神话。。何完胜（权相宇饰）是一位王牌刑警，他拥有雕塑般的完美外貌，但比起推理更相信直觉，比起法律更相信拳头。他不喜欢复杂的过程，靠着动物般的本能与敏锐的直觉抓捕罪犯。刘雪玉（崔江姬饰）则以知识和经验为基础，进行复杂推理找到真相。两人办事方式完全相反，但在一起却是梦幻搭档。两人携手，共同调查各种犯罪事件。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
